We are an Organic Flower Farm Growing Vibrant seasonal blooms In southern COlorado.

Located in the agricultural community of Canon City, Colorado, Ellen’s Flowers provides organically grown flowers directly to the greater Pikes Peak region. We farm in such a way to protect and create natural habitat, enhance the ecosystem functions on our property and give back to the land that sustains our business. We believe in taking care of the people that produce and enjoy our flowers. For that reason we use no synthetic chemicals on our farm. We hope that in sharing our story we can bring people closer to agriculture in our region and close the gap between farm and consumer. We aim to demonstrate the merits of locally and sustainably grown flowers and contribute to the growth of the local agriculture movement.

our Team

Ellen

Ellen is the lead designer and farmer at Ellen’s Flowers. She has worked on a diversity of sustainable operations from sheep ranching to organic vegetable farming and since starting Ellen’s Flowers in 2019, flower farming. Before farming, she studied conservation biology and focused on pollination biology. Flower farming reminds her of her time spent researching native bees in Colorado wildflower fields. She is passionate about the connections between land management, climate change, community, and flowers. When not farming(an infrequent occurrence), Ellen spends time outside exploring the natural world, mixing up cocktails, and catching up on classic movies with Matt.

Matt

Matt is head of infrastructure, innovation, and sales at Ellen’s Flowers. He started farming because he was interested in nutrition and wanted to grow the most nutrient-dense delicious food possible. He spent months in New Zealand early in his farming career learning from growers and experiencing orchards, vegetable farms, and livestock operations. He has seven years of farming and ranching experience under his belt, most of that time working on sustainable diversified livestock ranches. He joined Ellen’s Flowers in 2021 to help grow the business and innovate on the farm. He is passionate about local agriculture and can often be found discussing farming practices with other farmers. When not farming(an infrequent occurrence), he is an aspiring taco master, snuggles the farm cat waffles, and is a Star Wars junkie.

Emily

Emily is our farm crew lead and assistant floral designer! She had many seasons of farming on diversified veggie operations under her belt before she joined our team in 2023. With a degree in horticulture, she brings expertise to our team that is invaluable. Her sense of humor and quick wit keep us belly-laughing all season. You’ll find her at live music concerts, surfing the river wave in Salida, and taking trips in her van, Vanessa, when she isn’t farming.

Ann

Ann is a designer and farmer at Ellen’s Flowers. She is a retired educator with decades of experience teaching environmental science, biology and outdoor education. She is also a longtime gardener and lover of all things flowers. Off the farm she can be found competing in trail running races, backcountry skiing with her husband Steve, and playing with her doggo Callie.

Sam

We are lucky to have Sam work on the farm between her shifts as a labor and delivery nurse! She is passionate about all things cut flowers. She breeds specialty zinnias in her own cut flower garden, Ivywild Blooms. You can find those gorgeous zinnias amongst other flowers she grows for sale at the Woodland Park farmer’s market each Friday. She and her husband Max have three energetic dogs and cats at home that keep them on their toes! Besides being the kindest human we know, Sam is an invaluable member of our team who keeps us smiling all season long.

Waffles

Waffles the farm cat showed up on our door in 2022 and has adopted our farm family ever since. She hangs out with us in the shop and insists on pets between making bouquets. She is such a sweetie and we are so fortunate that the cat distribution system brought her our way.
